Understanding Ekatius™ Search
By its very nature, Ekatius™ search encompasses everything that can be indexed. This mass of data includes presentation titles, speaker names, session information and transcriptions (where available), and is ranked and sorted by commonality and abundance of terms (among other variables). The algorithm for search is constantly evolving and being improved so if you have any suggestions or questions (ex. why one presentation ranked higher in a result set than another) we would love to hear from you.
Some general information to keep in mind when conducting searches through Ekatius™:
-
Search is generally not case sensitive - "A" is equivalent to "a" except in some very specific instances where acronyms are concerned (i.e. AT&T, etc.).
-
Search encompasses all words one character in length and longer except for punctuation. Conjunctive terms, articles and other common words are not removed and may be used effectively when searching for phrases.
-
The Latin extended, Greek and Cyrillic alphabets are indexed "as is" in Ekatius™. This means that a word containing "é" (e + acute) will not be found by substituting a common "e" because character relationships are not mapped. This is purposefully done in an effort to improve accuracy.
-
By default all keywords are required to appear in the result set - this makes it easier to narrow down a result set by supplying additional keywords. Other operations such as searching with optional words, negating words and searching by phrases may be handled through the Advanced Search page.
